PROJECTION

THERE ARE THREE WAYS TO MAKE SOUND

ONLY ONE PROJECTS

NUMBER 1

One can PUSH air out of the mouth with effort from the lungs. This method is a favorite of POP singers. In recording this method, a FILTER is placed in front of the microphone because the air coming out of the mouth overloads the pickup of the microphone. Result: a lot of hot air.

NUMBER 2

Lift the palate and SUPPORT with air coming from the lungs. The bottom half of the body is not being engaged. A frontal sound is made - called 'put it in the mask.' This creates a space that should by NATURE not be opened! By lifting the palate and lowering the jaw, the sound can be manipulated by the larynx, tongue, and lips. The result: RESONANCE. Loud and DECLAMATORY. But beware! LOCKJAW may result.

NUMBER 3

Pay attention to the back of the skull. When the UVULA is urged to go back and down, air comes into the body naturally. This creates a relaxed, COMPLETE breath. With the uvula down, the sound takes the air it wants. The vocal cords inside the windpipe come together and VIBRATE freely, with no interference from the muscles in the neck. The air continues to be used, the vocal cords continue to vibrate, and the sound flies out the back of the skull - out to the audience. This is SQUILLO. Powerful and effortless. Projection HAPPENS.

THESE ARE THE THREE WAYS

IT'S YOUR CHOICE
